Description
Description | WIRE's objective is to analyse and disseminate the importance of a defining event in Contemporary Europe, such as anti-totalitarian resistance, and to do so in an alternative way to the conventional one, addressing the importance of the female subject in the past and present. The gender perspective of WIRE's content and the gender-balance approach of its methodology aims at contributing to reducing gender inequalities by raising awareness and valuing female agency in the past and present. WIRE is an activity-based, community outreach-focused multidisciplinary project that lies at the intersection of history and memory. It aims to establish a contact link between academic knowledge of the role of women in resistance movements and the promotion of historical awareness among the general public. Using educational activities that include innovative metholologies such a European Memory Route, innovative digital tools, and a variety of unconventional dissemination forms to reach the wider community, combined with scholarly verification of historical, educational and technical aspects, WIRE will contribute to academic and public knowledge of the history and memory of women’s participation in anti-totalitarian resistance in Europe. The WIRE consortium includes cultural institutions, public authorities, victims' organizations, research and archive institutes, universities, commemorative and learning sites, museums and public agents who can multiply their analyses and results (policy makers, scientists...), generating a close collaboration network. Sustainability is one of the elements that we value most at WIRE. Born from an H2020 project, SO-CLOSE, making the latter sustainable, WIRE will be deployed beyond the end of its chronology. WIRE's cultural products together with the training of young students, teachers and researchers will create a lasting influence on public opinion |
