Description

Description

* To renovate and renew the existing 20 yard pool built in 1974 to continue to allow access for neighbourhood residents and youth hub users. * To replace the existing aged playground with a new youth designed accessible playground to increase access to recreation. * To improve access to the pool area and community centre lobby for improved traffic flow. Woodman pool’s walls are failing and replacement of the pool basin, pool deck and addition of water features such as a water slide is included in the project scope. * Improved access to the pool and lobby and replacing the playground to make it accessible is also included. The centre and pool services the neighbouring area of 27,715 and is the only outdoor municipal pool that offers swim lessons which services the full community (over 100,000). This area is a lower income area with high numbers of children and youth who would have challenges with access to recreation without this facility. Off reserve First Nations residents make up 10-15% of the population in this area which borders Six Nations lands. Daytime senior programs meets a further need in this area.
