Description

Description

Woodsmith Mine is an ambitious engineering project located in the North York Moors National Park, designed to operate almost entirely underground to minimize visual and environmental disruption. The project involves constructing two deep mine shafts over 1600 m below ground, the deepest in Europe, to extract polyhalite, a mineral used as fertilizer. The mine also includes a 37 km underground conveyor system to transport the mineral to a coastal processing facility, reducing surface transport impact. Salko UK has been involved since 2020, providing full Mechanical and Electrical installation packages, focusing on high performance and environmentally responsible infrastructure.
