Description
Description | The project is linked to dealing with the consequences of the violent conflicts in the Central African Republic (CAR) in 2013/2014. The aim of the FC measure is to help alleviate the effects of crisis-related food shortages in the CAR and to help combat malnutrition and health problems among the population particularly affected by the conflict. The project will provide vital relief supplies to vulnerable sections of the population, such as mothers and children, and people on the run. It will build on existing structures in the health sector. The project will also provide school meals to support the resumption of regular school operations. Due to the particular urgency of the measure, the German contribution will be used as co-financing for an ongoing World Food Programme project. This is Saving Lives and Protecting Livelihoods in the Central African Republic (EMOP). EMOP 200650 is scheduled to run from January to August 2014 and may be extended. The total cost of the EMOP is estimated at USD 107 million. |
