Description | Hitachi Energy India Limited and Adani Energy Solutions Ltd. have successfully commissioned one of the world's largest high-voltage direct current (HVDC) city center infeeds in Mumbai. The project delivers 1,000 megawatts (MW) of reliable power directly into Mumbai, serving over 20 million people. It increases electricity supply from external sources by 50 percent and represents the most significant grid modernization initiative in nearly 25 years. The project uses advanced Voltage Source Converter (VSC) HVDC technology with a 50 km underground cable, combining overhead lines and underground HVDC cables, and features a compact footprint designed for urban constraints, freeing approximately 2 square kilometers of urban territory. |
