Headquartered in Zhengzhou, China, Zhengzhou Wote Energy-efficiency Technology Co., Ltd (http://www.zzwote.com/) (“Wote” or the “Company”) is a privately owned enterprise providing integrated energy efficiency and waste treatment solutions to the traditional steel industry through i) slag recycling and utilization (SRU), and ii) waste heat to electricity (WHE) generation from blast furnace gas and converter gas.IFC proposes to support Wote with an RMB-denominated loan of up to US$60 million for financing the acquisition of a 70MW WHE generation facility (Baigong Phase 1) that has been operational since 2012 for the 25MW unit and 2018 for the 45MW unit respectively, and the construction of an 80MW facility (Baigong Phase 2) with trial operation expected to take place by June 2025 (the “project”). The project is located within an existing steel processing facility premise in an industrial area and 500m from the nearest community. The generated electricity will be consumed by the steel processing facility, hence transmission line will not be required.
