The project includes the construction of two buildings and the procurement of medical and building technology equipment for the Fifth Peoples Hospital in the city of Wuhu, which has a population of 3.8 million, in the southeast of the Chinese province of Anhui. The Class 2A public hospital specializes in medical rehabilitation and has already maintained close contact with German rehabilitation clinics in the past. The project is intended to almost double the hospital's bed capacity from 640 to 1,250. After completion of the project, up to 36,000 inpatients and up to 717,000 outpatients are to be treated annually. The total cost of the project is EUR 61.3 million. EUR 15 million of this is to be financed through an FC subsidy loan, with the majority (EUR 12.5 million) to be used to purchase the medical technology equipment. The remaining EUR 2.5 million will be used to purchase elevators and a supply system. Due to the long term and the current interest rates, the project is ODA-eligible and thus makes a temporary contribution to increasing the German ODA quota.
