Description | Elon Musk's artificial intelligence company xAI has installed 59 natural gas turbines in Southaven, Mississippi, to power two data centers located nearby in Memphis. The first data center, Colossus, was completed in 2024 and houses a large supercomputer. The company is currently building a second data center, Colossus II, near the Mississippi state line. Eighteen turbines are currently operational while the company awaits state permit approval for the remaining turbines. The turbines are categorized as "temporary-mobile" and are not currently subject to air emissions oversight by Mississippi regulators. |
