Description | In August 2009, a private company Shanghai United Water Corporation was granted a 30 year agreement to renovate and operate the water supply facilities in Xianning City, Hubei Province after an open bidding process. No information was publicly available on the bid criteria and the number of bidders. United Water Corporation paid RMB 120 million (US$ 17.57 million) to get the right to operate the existing water supply plants with a total capacity of 160,000 cubic meters per day and was expected to spend RMB 30 million to renovate them. In addition, RMB 200 million was expected to be invested in developing new water treatment plant (total investment of RMB 230 million, or US$ 33.67 million in facilities). United Water Corporation had a 100% stake in the project. |
