Description
Description | In January of 2001, China Water Company (CWC) won a concession contract for Shaoxing China Water Company to construct, operate and manage the water treatment plant and related facilities of the Xiao Shun Jiang Water Supply Scheme located in Shaoxing city, Zhejiang province. The project consisted of four parts 1) the Tangpu reservoir with a storage capacity of 200 million cubic meters, 2) a Pump Station, regulating pond and a 13.6 km water transmission tunnel which connects the reservoir and water treatment plant, 3) a plant which treats 400,000 tonnes of water per day. CWC’s share in the project was 40% with the remainder with Shaoxing Municipal Water Group. As of 2002, CWC itself was owned by Thames Water (a subsidiary of RWE) (48.8%) and Sime Darby Bhd. of Malaysia (33.3%). The water treatment plant was built at a cost of US$26 million. Construction began in December 1998 and the plant was commissioned in early 2001. Because of conflicts in profit sharing, Shaoxing Municipal Water Group bought back all the shares of CWC with compensating it for its investment and interest in 2006. None None |
