This project preparatory TA will help the Government to prepare the Xinjiang Municipal Infrastructure and Environmental Improvement Project.The project will (i) improve local road networks, including associated utility services in two border cities; and (ii) improve urban infrastructure in Alashankou land port and basic infrastructure and environmental protection in Kanas National Nature Reserve, Altay prefecture.The TA will help XUARG to (i) identify the most appropriate and sustainable urban infrastructure developments to improve trade and enterprise in border cities and increase the number of visitors to the Kanas National Reserve, thus reducing poverty and protecting ecologically vulnerable areas; (ii) prepare a feasibility study for each of the four project components; and (iii) prepare an integrated municipal infrastructure project, including environmental impact assessment, social analyses, and resettlement plans that conform to ADB?s policies and guidelines.
