Description

Description

Russia is diversifying its liquefied natural gas exports from the Yamal LNG project in the Arctic to Asia due to the loss of the European market. This shift results in at least a doubling of logistics costs, impacting revenue. The European Union plans to phase out Russian LNG imports from 2027, prompting Russia to seek new buyers in Asia. Transport routes to Asia are significantly longer and more costly compared to Europe, with options including the Suez Canal, Cape of Good Hope, and the Northern Sea Route. The Northern Sea Route is the most expensive and complicated due to tanker shortages. The Suez Canal route, despite security risks, is currently the cheapest for year-round deliveries to India.
