Yangzhou Waste Water Treatment Plant, Phase III

The project includes the expansion and upgrade of the Liuwei sewage treatment plant (Phase III) in Yangzhou in the eastern Chinese province of Jiangsu. The project will expand and consolidate the existing sewage network in the catchment area of the Liuwei sewage treatment plant and increase the connection rate to the public sewer network. At the same time, the wastewater treatment capacity at the Liuwei sewage treatment plant will be increased by means of a further expansion stage in order to be able to properly treat the additional wastewater volumes generated by the consolidated sewer network. The wastewater will be treated to such an extent that it can be reused as process water in industry and for irrigating green spaces. The aim here is for 30% of the wastewater volumes generated to be reused as process water. In addition to the KfW Federal Development Fund loan, the financing will be secured from funds from the local government (Yangzhou Municipal Government).
