Description | The Yarlung Tsangpo River downstream hydropower project officially started construction on July 19, 2025. It adopts the development method of bending straightening and tunnel water diversion, constructing five tiered power stations with a total investment of approximately 1.2 trillion yuan. The power generated will mainly be for external delivery, while also considering local needs in Tibet. The project is expected to have an installed capacity about three times that of the Three Gorges Project, making it a national-level significant hydropower project. |
