Yasny Military Base Missile Explosion

operational with incident

A missile exploded at a Russian military base in Yasny, Orenburg region, sending plumes of purple smoke into the sky. The explosion was caused by a failed missile launch that disintegrated shortly after being fired. The base is one of 11 locations in Russia capable of conducting ground-based long-range missile launches, including those armed with nuclear warheads, and is suspected to be equipped with the Avangard hypersonic glide vehicle, a sophisticated nuclear delivery system. The base has undergone expansion and modernization over the past decade with enhanced infrastructure.
