Yellowknife Fiddlers Lagoon Sludge Reduction Design and Improvement Project

This project includes continued investigations into the best options for managing the removal of the accumulated sludge from the lagoon. In order to determine the best method to manage the sewage sludge, knowledge of what the sludge sediment materials contain as well as what the final effluent quality at the end of the lagoon system is will be key. The project will include continued monitoring of the sewage sludge and effluent quality, an engineering recommendation report for sewage sludge disposal options, an engineering design with some preliminary construction on the selected method of sludge disposal, partial construction of sludge drying bed, improvements to the current dykes of the existing sewage lagoon to prevent inflow as well as a road and trail upgrade for improved access to the sewage lagoon.
