Description | The Yemen 70 Phase Block is a 1,367 square kilometer onshore block located near Block 4 in Yemen. The block was acquired by KNOC through direct negotiations with the Yemeni Government. Total, a French oil company, currently operates the block with a 50.1125% working interest. KNOC has a 12.35% interest in the block, while OMV of Austria holds 19.2375% and YGCOG of Yemen holds 5%. Samsung C&T and Daesung of Korea have 7.6% and 5.7% interests, respectively. The first exploratory well drilling took place from August 2008 to February 2009. Exploration works have been stopped since April 2015 due to the civil war in Yemen. |
