The Yettinahole drinking water project involves constructing a pipeline to supply drinking water to multiple districts in Karnataka. The project was launched in 2008 with an initial estimated cost of Rs 8,000 crore, which has escalated to nearly Rs 23,000 crore. The project aims to provide water to Chikkaballapur, Kolar, Tumakuru, Bengaluru Rural, Ramanagara, Hassan, and Chikkamagaluru districts. Despite the first phase being inaugurated nearly two years ago, water has not yet been supplied to the intended regions. Recently, a major pipeline burst near Halasulige village in Sakleshpur taluk of Hassan district during a trial run, causing thousands of litres of water to be wasted and farmlands to be inundated. The incident raised concerns about the quality of construction and the project's reliability.
