Description
Description | Employing the right employees can be crucial for a business. By developing a common way to evaluate skills, the Yggdrasil project aims to make it easier for job seekers to show what they actually can. Skills development is becoming increasingly important in the labour market, says the Yggdrasil project. It is one of the few factors that competing activities cannot replicate from each other. Having good employees is therefore crucial to being able to stand up to the competition. This, in turn, increases the demands on employees and job seekers to show what they can, which many find it difficult for. — It is a major problem that many short-educated people find it difficult to prove their skills. When you have no education, you may have worked up at a high level, but it is difficult to document the skills. If you want to change positions, it can be difficult for job seekers to account for and prove what you can, says Merete Giehm-Reese, project manager for Yggdrasil. Validate in common way: This project wants to change by drawing lessons from different experiences in Sweden, Denmark and Norway. By working across borders and working closely with key stakeholders, the goal is to develop a common way to validate competence. The certificate should serve as a template where jobseekers can document the skills they have gained during their working life. When many are looking for work today, there is a tendency to just tell you what you have done but not what you have skills. By documenting it, you can show what the employer is actually asking for. A validation system for the whole region: How the validation best looks is one of the questions that the project should answer. The goal is to get the validation system clear, simple and uniform. There is a hope to develop a system that can be used in all three countries. — A joint validation would also make it easier for the workforce to cross borders. In this way, you can both validate and document your skills across borders. With the validation system, the project also sees opportunities for employers to be able to identify needs for skills development, as well as for employment services in the different countries to see what type of training the countries need to invest in. Useful for all parties: So far, the project does not target a particular industry, but they see a potential opportunity in developing specific tests and certificates for certain industries. The goal is to develop a system that is as useful as possible for both important actors such as the A-kassan in Denmark, Arbetsförmedlingen in Sweden and Jobbkassan in Norway, as well as for job seekers. “The most important thing for us is to develop something that will be useful, so the project will show if there is a point with a whole common system, or different systems depending on industry and country,” says Merete Giehm-Reese. |
