Description | The project will build a multi-purpose sports and recreation facility in Belleville, Ontario. The work will involve building a new 60,000 sq. ft. facility including two pools, a gymnasium (4,500 sq. ft.), a conditioning centre with space focused for youth and seniors (4,200 sq. ft.), locker room facilities including universal/family change room, an aerobics/exercise studio, facilities for social, educational programs and community meeting spaces, and multi-purpose meeting and social spaces for adults with a developmental disabilities. The project will enable the YMCA of Central East Ontario (CEO) to increase access to fitness, recreation and community services. Overall use of YMCA CEO facilities will increase from an average of 15,000 visitors a month to an estimated average visitors of 39,000 visitors a month. With Volunteer Information Quinte being co-located in the facility, their meaningful volunteer opportunities are also expected to increase, which will benefit over 275 social services agencies in Belleville. |
