"The project ""Young Europeans: Education for Democracy and Sustainability"" (YOU-EU) aims to enhance European citizenship education by integrating democratic participation, sustainability, and digital literacy into secondary education. Led by the 1st General Lyceum of Spata, the initiative responds to the absence of structured EU studies in Greek high schools, fostering knowledge, critical thinking, and active engagement among students. Through an interdisciplinary and experiential approach, the project will: Provide innovative educational methods such as debates, role-playing, and digital storytelling to help students understand EU institutions, policies, and values. Develop open-access digital learning resources, including interactive platforms and virtual exhibitions in collaboration with Artsteps and Microsoft Hellas. Organize simulations of the European Parliament, fostering democratic dialogue and civic engagement. Promote sustainability education, linking EU environmental policies with hands-on projects in schools. Establish strategic collaborations with Europe Direct, the European Parliament Office in Greece, the European Research and Development Innovation Center (ERDIC), The Tipping Point in Education, and the Association of Political Scientists. The expected impact includes increased student participation in European topics, improved critical and digital skills, and the creation of a sustainable model for EU education. Dissemination will be ensured through school networks, conferences, social media, and EU educational platforms. By the end of the three-year project, YOU-EU aspires to become a model initiative for integrating European studies into secondary education, empowering students to be informed, responsible, and active European citizens."
