Description

Description

Objectives - Bring together young law practitioners from different EU MS and make them feel part of a community with common values - Facilitate their communication and let them share of new experiences - Promote and foster a common European judicial culture and a forum for discussion on current issues of EU law - Stimulate their critical thinking and strengthen international communication skills Activities: Two contests taking place over the years 2020-2021. Each run is proposed for a maximum of twelve teams (36 candidates) from as many MS as possible. The format will be a 1.5-day contest with three rounds. The first and the second rounds consist of six parallels sessions. The final round will be composed of the best two remaining teams. A different task will have to be mastered at each level, which can take the form of a written essay on a given legal question, a negotiating exercise, or an oral debate with another team in front of the jury. Although organised in the form of a contest, the activity is in essence a training exercise which will actively involve participants to the maximum. Teams will be formed of participants from different jurisdictions. The whole project will be run in English. Type and number of persons benefiting from the project: 72 newly qualified lawyers from as many national Bars as possible. Expected results: Participants will acquire strong cross-cultural working skills (in the form of negotiation, the drafting of legal arguments and oral pleadings) based on mutual respect and appreciation. This will foster professional relations among future legal practitioners across Europe. Personal contacts with colleagues from other EU Member States will foster mutual trust and the creation of a European judicial culture. Type and number of deliverables to be produced: - Two contests of 3 rounds each, 2*1.5 days. - Website with relevant information: organisation of the contest, rules of procedure, documentation
