"Youth employment has been an important and necessary focus on our labour market for years. If we want to effectively boost our activity rate to 80%, then every talent must be on board. Recent months have been more challenging than ever for our young people. Learning deficits lurk around the corner, leading to a higher risk of early dropouts, higher percentage of NEETs, internships that cannot take place, etc. We see the heavy struggle to attract the necessary workforce in a lot of our sectors. Companies are confronted with higher and renewed skills needs/new emerging skills. Traineeships and apprenticeships for young people are part of the solution, however, better and/or more intense coordination between education and the labour market is crucial. At VBO FEB – the country's largest employers' federation – we want to excel in this area, and, via YTiA, bridge the gap between education, the labour market and young people aged 17-27. Young Talent in Action (YTiA) is an interactive platform where young people learn to discover their own talents and how to put them to good use on the labour market.
