Description
Description | Youth Art for the Earth will contribute to the transnational creation, circulation, skills sharing and capacity building by developing and testing a unique educational and outreach tool, and engaging young people and their communities in co-creation of public art. Our goal in this project is to improve capacity for engaging street art that promotes inclusion and sustainability by: Involving up to six educators and up to six street artists in piloting an educational and outreach programme of workshops Engaging up to 120 young participants in workshops that build creative, critical thinking and communication skills Developing and testing an educational tool to promote inclusion, environmental sustainability and social responsibility which will be offered as an open-source educational tool Delivering six pieces of public art through a co-creative process among participating artists, young workshop participants and their communities Producing and promoting twelve short and one longer-form films as dissemination tools popular amongst the young audiences Our immediate target audience are young people of secondary school age (15-21) growing up with little access to the existing cultural offering. We will collaborate with secondary schools in the banlieues of Paris, Belgrade and towns plagued by environmental pollution such as Bor or Pančevo in Serbia, and in Maribor and Ljubljana in Slovenia, to recruit the young participants for our workshops. The presence of murals, together with the engaged and enthused groups of young people, will help amplify the discussion in the wider communities. Our reach will be additionally augmented through a communications campaign employing traditional and new media, while the murals themselves will enrich the environment and tickle the imagination of thousands of people going by each. Our films and open-source educational tool will be available to anyone wishing to replicate it anywhere in Europe and beyond. |
