Youth Business Training Program

The general objective of this program is to provide low-income youth in Chile, Ecuador, Paraguay, and Peru, preferably from indigenous communities, who are enrolled in secondary education, with the skills that will enable them to enter the workplace, thereby promoting equality of opportunity.The specific objectives are: (i) to develop among youth from rural and indigenous areas the capacity to engage in business, to assume risk, and to make decisions, through decentralized expansion of Junior Achievement (JA) business education programs; (ii) to relate secondary education to the workplace by involving the private and public sectors in the education process by training an active volunteer community; (iii) to assist in developing a complementary curriculum in the schools that will prepare students for the workplace; (iv) to provide teachers with active methodological strategies that make greater achievements in teaching/learning possible; and (v) to make the JA program sustainable by committing human and financial resources from the private sector.
