Description
Description | GreenLink: Youth Empowerment, the EU Human Grid connects 11 cities across 10 EU countries to promote civic engagement, inclusion, and long-term cooperation. It builds on the success of CSCE’s previous CERV projects, notably ConnectTown2EU, and mobilizes key regions like Seine-Saint-Denis (Paris), Budapest, Riga, La Valette (Malta), Bologna, Cannes, Tripoli, Frankfurt an der Oder, Milan, Larnaca, Malaga and Słubice. The project focuses on youth with fewer opportunities (NEETs, ethnic and linguistic minorities, LGBTQ+ youth) and uses popular themes such as environmental issues, peace, and minority rights not as ends but as tools for mobilization and engagement. At the heart of GreenLink lies an innovative long-term local volunteering mechanism inspired by the French civic service model, tested across borders and connected to EU mobility programs like the Solidarity Corps. Through 300-participant local events and cultural actions, youth will take the lead in shaping civic initiatives. Key events include the Youth Forum for Peace and Human Rights at the 2026 Milan Olympics, echoing Paris 2024. In Cannes, youth will contribute to the Environmental Film Festival’s Citizens’ Assembly. Frankfurt and Słubice host a joint festival bridging Polish-German youth. In Budapest, GreenLink provides a rare civic space for youth activism. Larnaca supports migrant youth inclusion, and Castelldefels tackles social fragmentation. GreenLink goes beyond one-off actions. It creates a sustainable ecosystem for democratic participation and social inclusion through local volunteering, cultural engagement, and transnational cooperation, proving that youth-led action can shape a stronger, more united Europe. |
