YPBB: Youth Placemaking Beyond Borders builds upon the successful Youth Placemaking Balkans (YPB) project, expanding its impact to the Neighbourhood East region by equipping youth with the skills and tools to transform public spaces through phygital placemaking—a hybrid approach combining physical and digital engagement methods. The project addresses low youth participation, lack of advocacy platforms, and limited access to inclusive public spaces by empowering young people to reclaim and shape their urban environments. The project will achieve its objectives through four interconnected work packages, aligning with the following key objectives: O1: Ensure effective project operations and knowledge transfer, scaling the YPB methodology in Armenia, Ukraine, and Moldova while maintaining strong project coordination. O2: Increase youth participation through a phygital approach, integrating hybrid engagement methods to make capacity-building more accessible and appealing to youth. O3: Pilot youth-led placemaking interventions to develop skills, enabling young people to implement physical transformations of public spaces while learning participatory design, project management, and civic engagement. O4: Empower youth to actively engage in decision-making and advocacy, equipping them with the skills to navigate policy processes, engage with local authorities, and advocate for their needs in urban planning. These objectives will be achieved through capacity-building for youth trainers (WP2), youth-led placemaking pilots (WP3), and structured advocacy efforts (WP4). The project directly supports Erasmus+ priorities by fostering youth participation, inclusion, and civic engagement, while integrating digital tools and AI-enhanced strategies into participatory urbanism. Through hands-on interventions, structured advocacy, and regional cooperation, YPBB will scale and adapt placemaking methodologies, empowering youth as active agents of urban transformation.
