Terminal de Contenedores de Yucatan was the container terminal in the Progreso Port, located on the Caribbean sea in the state of Yucatan. It began operating on July 2005. The 20-year Greenfield project was granted through a public tender. The wining company was the consortium formed by Grup Maritim TCB with a 70% share in Terminal de Contenedores de Yucatán –the operating company- and various local companies with a 30% stake in 2004. In December 2005, the state government of Puebla awarded the project to the consortium headed by Terminal de Contenedores de Barcelona (TCB). TCB won over five other offers by offering to pay US$4.3 million (45 million pesos) for the contract. The consortium headed by TCB was expected to have to invest an estimated amount of US$20 million. In December 2015, APM Terminals acquired Grup Maritim TCB in a transaction valued US$ 1 billion.
