Description | The Third Yumbo Thermal and Calima Hydro Projects will finance the foreign exchange cost for an extension to the thermal plant, for construction of a new hydro plant, and associated transmission and distribution systems, to be carried out by the Corporacion Autonoma Regional del Cauca (CVC) and Central Hidroelectrica del Rio Anchicaya (CHIDRAL). The project consists of: 1) extension of the existing Yumbo thermal plant, which includes the installation of a 33 MW unit; 2) construction of the 120 MW Calima hydro plant, with an initial installation of two units, each with a capacity of 30 MW. The dam to be constructed across the Calima river, and its tributary, the Bravo river, would create a reservoir wit a capacity of 533 million cubic meters; 3) construction, and installation of transmission lines, and substations; and, 4) expansion of distribution networks in Cali, in nine smaller towns, and sixteen villages. |
