Description
Description | The overall project includes a vocational training and a health component, which effectively influence each other when viewed as a whole. As part of the project, a new campus for the Baoshan College of Traditional Chinese Medicine (BCTCM) medical vocational school in Baoshan and a new hospital complex for the Lincang Municipal People's Hospital (LMPH) general and teaching hospital in Lincang in the southern Chinese province of Yunnan are to be built and equipped with modern equipment. There is a cooperation agreement between the BCTCM and the LMPH that stipulates the practical training of the students between the BCTCM and the LMPH. The cooperation between the two institutions makes an important contribution to the practice-oriented training of the students and their employment opportunities in the labor market. The vocational school is the only public all-day school for traditional Chinese medicine that offers a combination of Chinese and Western medicine in Yunnan. The capacity of the vocational school is to be increased from around 5,000 to 10,000 students and the school's medical equipment is to be improved. The project also serves to improve medical care in the catchment area of the LMPH, which includes the border region with Myanmar. In addition to increasing treatment capacity, expanding diagnostic and treatment options and improving the quality of diagnosis, the training and teaching conditions for trainees at the LMPH will be improved. 50% of a federal development loan will be used for the vocational school to build the buildings and purchase teaching and training equipment, and 50% for the hospital to purchase medical equipment. |
