Description
Description | Compagnie Moradi as part of its projects, collected the testimony of Annick SORET, a resident of the Breil priority district in Nantes (France). Her mother, Yvette PARE-MOISON, left to work as a civilian in Austria during the Second World War, and died at the age of 22 in Vienna, leaving her two children behind in Nantes. This family story immediately moved and intrigued us. It put us back in touch with the troubled times of war in Europe through the destiny of a young mother from Nantes who had to find the means to survive. We offered Annick SORET the chance to revive an investigation into her mother, whom she had never met, almost 80 years after her death. Through this investigation, we realized that the topic of female civilian workers during the Second World War is poorly known by the general public, and has only recently been the subject of academic research. Our project aims to draw new lessons from the Second World War and promote a more nuanced understanding of historical events by integrating a gender perspective through the figure of female volunteer workers. The events planned will take place in France and Austria, and target high-school students, teachers, local politicians and the general public. They will be organized by the members of the consortium: Compagnie Moradi, Maison de l'Europe de Nantes, Espace Coeur en Scène (Commune de Rouans), Institut Français d'Autriche, Documentation Center of Austrian Resistance-DÖW, Le Souvenir Français, Mémorial de Falaise (Office de Tourisme du Pays de Falaise) and the City of Nantes (associate partner). Our objectives are as follows : 1) To shed light on the history of female civilian volunteer workers during the Second World War. 2) Develop new tools for the transmission of memory, to perpetuate the history of female volunteer worker victims 3) Make this history accessible and reach a wide audience, especially young people and people with a multiplying effect. |
