Description | Croatia's state-owned railway infrastructure operator HZ Infrastruktura received two bids for five-year consulting services related to the Zagreb – Rijeka railway construction project. The consultancy works involve preparation and implementation of a 3.0 billion euro procurement procedure for the design and construction of the lowland railway, including two new sections: Karlovac - Skradnik and Skradnik - Krasica – Tijani. The project will use an alliance contracting model, featuring a double-track electrified line designed for speeds up to 160 km/h for passenger trains and 120 km/h for freight trains, with five new stations, one halt, over 30 viaducts and tunnels including Croatia's longest tunnel of 14 km through the Velika Kapela massif. The railway will enhance the Rijeka Gateway Adriatic sea container terminal's capacity and connectivity to Hungary and Central Europe. |
