Description | Zakhidenergo was a thermal power company, Ukraine's only utility capable of exporting electricity to Eastern Europe. It operates three power plants in Western Ukraine with total installed capacity of 4.6 GW In 2002 Burshtynska plant was disconnected from the Ukrainian energy system and linked to European UCTE enabling exports to Europe. Another Zakhidenergo plant, Dobrotvirska, had one of its blocks connected to the Polish energy system In October 2010, DTEK increased its stake in Zakhidenergo to 24.9% from slightly above 11%. In November 2011, DTEK won a tender for a 45% stake in Zakhidenergo, increasing its stake to 70.9%. The purchase was finalized January 11th 2012.
