Zambia - Education III Project (Support to Basic Education)

The proposed education project is an integral part of a basic education sub-sector investment program in Zambia. The project will provide school facilities together With the appropriate, teaching-learning materials and in-service teacher training in remote rural areas. Major activities are designed to address major sector issues such as access to, and quality of basic education, as well as management of the education system. Thus, the project will provide access to schooling and improve the quality of primary education for poorer children, including girls, thus enhancing social equity. As increased levels of skills of the population are associated with increased productivity of the economy, improved living conditions are therefore expected with the expanded provision of quality education. The project will be implemented over a period of 48 months.
