Zambia - Hotel Inter-Continental, Lusaka (HIL)

The project involves the renovation, rehabilitation and refurbishment of Hotel Intercontinental Lusaka (HIL) in order to restore the 5-star positioning of the hotel. HIL was established in 1968 with 200 rooms, and for many years was the only 5 star hotel in Lusaka. It is the largest hotel in Lusaka and in the past was best able to provide hospitality services appropriate to a regional capital. The project will support a growing sector in the Zambian economy, most of the 275 employees will be women, whose economic well-being will thus be enhanced and poverty reduced, the sectors enjoys strong Government support. The cost is estimated to be US$18.838 million and project will be implemented over a period of 24 months.
