Zambia - Lusaka Water Supply Rehabilitation Project

The Lusaka Water Supply Rehabilitation Project is aimed at rehabiliting the existing distribution system so that water losses are reduced to more manageable levels. It is also necessary that these works are carried out now before any expansion works can be considered as any additional water would still get lost in the system in its present rundown state. Basically, the project will complement the ongoing rehabilitation programme for the entire Lusaka water supply system. The rehabilitation of the water system will go a long way in improving the revenue base of the Lusaka water and sewerage company (LWSC). Lack of adequate funds has been one of the biggest problems facing the former WSD. Further the project will provide facilities necessary for institutional building which will facilitate the completion of the transformation of WSD to LWSC.
