Description

Description

The Zambia Natural Honey Project (ZNHP) which falls under the honey sub sector is one of the priority areas that the Government of the Republic of Zambia (GRZ) has identified to drive the diversification of the economy. The project will entail the establishment of a modern honey processing plant at the Lusaka South – Multi Facility Economic Zone (LS-MFEZ) in Lusaka, Zambia. The project is largely dependent on the abundance of raw materials, mainly raw comb honey of which Zambia produces large quantities of it and exports to various countries such as the EU, US, France, Botswana, Italy, South Africa and China. In order to fill the gap of the prevailing high levels of demand for honey the ZNHP will produce an average of 5,000 tonnes of natural organic honey per annum. This increase in the global demand for honey presents profitable investment opportunities to investors, thus the total project cost is US$5 million and a Private Investor is invited to invest in the project and provide the entire US$5 million as equity finance. The project is expected to generate an average annual turnover of US$9.88 million during the first five years. The GRZ, through the Ministry of Trade Commerce and Industry (MTCI), Zambia Development Agency (ZDA), LSMFEZ, Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) and Ministry of Livestock (MoL) will facilitate the investment and assist the Investor to establish the project.
