The proposed project is an investment in Zephyr Peacock India Fund III (“ZP III” or the “Fund”), focused on financing capital efficient and differentiated small and medium enterprises (SMEs) across India. The Fund will focus on taking significant minority positions in market leading, entrepreneurially-led companies in high growth sectors including businesses that serve the infrastructure sector, specialty manufacturing, financial services, pharmaceuticals and information technology (the “target sectors”).The proposed project is a successor fund to Zephyr Peacock India Fund II (“ZP II”), a 2008 SME-focused fund of $48 million. ZP II has invested in five companies (of which three are directly operational in low income states) across telecommunications and IT infrastructure services, renewable energy and healthcare sectors.
