Zhangiztobe solar power plant project

The project involves the development, construction and operation of a 30MWp solar power plant in Zhangiztobe in the East Kazakhstan region. The plant is going to generate over 38,900 MWh of electricity per year and will help to reduce CO2 emissions by 31,650 tons per year. The sponsor is Universal Energy Co. Ltd (China-based) and the SPV is Zhangiz Solar LLP. The total investment stands at $ 22.5 million. Debt financing of $16.7 million will be provided by EBRD ( KZT 4.4 billion or $ 11.7 million) and the Green Climate Fund ($ 5 million). Financial close has been reached on 26 April 2019. The plant was constructed for a period of 9 months.
