Description | In October of 2000, Sino-French Holdings was awarded a 30-year concession contract for the upgrading, operation and management of the 360,000 cubic meters per day Hua Yuan Kou Raw Water Plant in Henan Province. Zhengzhou was a famous historical city with a population of 6.5 million. To implement the contract, Zhengzhou Sino French Water Supply Company Ltd was created as the project company in which Sino French took a 50% stake, while the remaining 50% was held by the local state-owned Zhengzhou Municipal Water Supply Company. Sino-French, in turn, was a 50-50 joint venture between Suez water subsidiary Ondeo and New World Infrastructure of Hong Kong. Total project cost was US$37.8 million.
