Description | In May of 2005, InterChina Water Treatment Limited (a 95%-owned subsidiary of InterChina Holdings of Hong Kong) was awarded a 25-year contract to build and operate two sewage treatement plants, each with a daily capacity of 40,000 tons, in Zhuozhou city, Hebei province. The company was to invest HKD118 million (US$15.1 million) over the life of the project. The Zhuozhou government was to provide sewage and pay sewage treatment charges to InterChina Water Treatment at a rate of HKD0.71 per tonne for the first two years after the plants commenced operation. The two plants were to be constructed within two years of the contract signing. The project was later cancelled for disagreement upon some issues. |
