Zhuri Space-Based Solar Power Project

China's Zhuri project aims to build solar power stations in space, utilizing orbital systems equipped with large solar panels to collect solar energy, convert it into microwaves or laser beams, and transmit it wirelessly to ground-based rectennas for electricity generation. The project is ambitious, likened to placing the Three Gorges Dam in geostationary orbit, with plans for a megawatt-level in-orbit test by around 2030 and a 200-tonne megawatt-level orbital power station by 2035. The long-term goal is a commercially viable gigawatt-scale station by 2050.
