Description
Description | The proposed operation concerns a Grant in the amount of UA 2,080,000 from ADF 13 (TSF/Pillar III) to strengthen the capacity of Zimbabwe with the necessary financial resources for membership subscription in African Trade Insurance Agency (ATI). By providing financial resources for Zimbabwe to subscribe for membership in ATI, the project will support delivery of an integrated and enhanced trade finance facilitation and investment risk underwriting framework for the private sector. In addition, the capacity of Zimbabwe to attract investment resources on the back of an improved political and credit risk environment that ATI’s operations will facilitate will be bolstered. This will complement the ongoing in-country initiatives to improve the investment climate through the implementation of institutional and legislative reforms aimed at reducing the cost of doing business. Furthermore, this would complement the Bank’s ongoing support on mobilizing Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) into critical infrastructure; public debt and arrears clearance; as well as the liquidity crunch adversely impacting the economy. The project is due to be implemented over 13 months. |
