Description
Description | The Youth Empowerment and Women's Empowerment Project (YWEP) is a response to the need to address the fragility that threatens Zimbabwe's development. The main drivers of fragility, as identified by the project, are: (i) inequalities between men and women, and youth unemployment and poverty; (ii) regional disparities in development; (iii) the lack of technical and commercial skills; and (iv) weak institutions and poor governance. The operation aims to ensure economic empowerment for economically vulnerable young people and women through the development of technical and commercial skills and the promotion of business creation in the horticulture value chain and other chains of food values. This project will contribute to capacity building for similar interventions in other fragile states, as well as to the accumulation of knowledge in the context of Zimbabwe, which will enable the African Development Bank to improve efficiency and effectiveness. the effectiveness of the aid it provides to the country. It will be implemented over three years, from January 2017 to December 2019. The components of the project are: (i) food processing and business creation; (ii) institutional capacity building; as well as (iii) support for project management. |
