Description

Description

In October 2013, the Colombian company Hidalgo e Hidalgo S.A.S. won in a competitive bidding the right to rehabilitate and operate the 370 km of highways connecting the muncipalities of Zipaquira and Bucamaranga located in Colombia. The bidding process was organized by federal agency Agencia Nacional de Infraestructuras (ANI), and the bidding criteria was highest amount to be invested in the project. The sponsor offered to invest US$ 163 million in the roadways (the total project was estimated at US$ 196.4 million, so the government was expected to invest about half of this amount). Besides Hidalgo e Hidalgo, six other companies made public offers for the project: Construcciones El Condor, Conalvias, Carlos Alberto Solarte Solarte, Valorcon, AIA, Construvicol y Adeco. The sponsors created the company Concesionaria Vial de Colombia S.A.S. to lead the project. The 3-year concession contract was signed in July 2013, and operations commenced in January 2014.
