Description | The name ZIZABONA was derived by taking the first two letters of the following country names: Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana and Namibia. It is a 400/330kV Interconnector line envisaged to establish the required infrastructure to interconnect the countries as indicated above. The project will enable the wheeling of power north south or vice versa via the Zambezi HVDC Link. The ZIZABONA project components include a direct line from Mukuni (previosuly known as Livingstone) to Zambezi together with a radial connection from Victoria Falla to Pandamatenga. The project consists of the construction of the following key transmission lines; Zimbabwe (Hwange) – Zambia Livingstone (Mukuni) – 101km (Hwange to border) and 14km (border to Mukuni) Zimbabwe (Victoria Falls) – Botswana (Pandamatenga) – 76km Zambia (Mukuni) – Namibia (Zambezi) – 231km |
