The project has encountered delays due to the Covid-19 pandemic, a terrorist attack at the nearby Sonamarg Tunnel Project, and harsh weather conditions. The total estimated cost has increased to Rs 6,809 crore, with Rs 3,934.42 crore already spent. The project employs 1,141 persons, with a majority from Jammu & Kashmir and specifically from the Ganderbal district. |
