Description | The Zoo Lake Users Committee, a non-profit organisation managed by local residents and concerned citizens of Johannesburg, has been working on restoring and developing Zoo Lake to become a world-class city park and sustainable recreational facility. Over the past 10 years, the committee has upgraded and rehabilitated the lake's banks with indigenous plants, stabilised banks with gabion baskets and geocell webbing, erected berms to manage excess water, laid paving around benches and selfie frames, planted indigenous trees, upgraded benches and basketball courts, capped the stormwater system, maintained gardens, and installed a waste management project to assist with litter and recycling. |
