Description | Meiya Power Company (MPC) and Nannine Regional power are building a 72 MW hydroelectric plant in Zuojiang, Guangxi Province. The cost of the project is US$62.3 million which is being financed by RMB bank loans and shareholder loans. Financial closure was reached in October 1999. MPC holds 60% share of Zuojiang power plant and has an operating role, while Nanning Regional Power Co. has 40% share. Electricity is sold to the Guangxi grid. Construction began in 1992 with the first unit on-line in 1999. MPC was jointly owned by PSEG Global Inc (50%), the Asian Infrastructure Fund (30%), and Hydro-Quebec International (20%). In July 2004, Darby Asia Investors, Ltd. ("DAI"), acquired Hydro-Quebec's 20% stake for a total cash consideration of US$84.6 million. MPC is an independent power producer developing, owning, and operating thermal and hydro power plants in Asia. None None |
