Description

Description

The project focuses on enhancing the practical implementation of EU legal instruments in civil and commercial matters through the creation of a core group within the Slovak Judicial Network. This smaller, more specialized group will consist of experienced judges and judicial staff who demonstrate long-term commitment, professional expertise, and sufficient knowledge of EU working languages. The group’s aim is to ensure consistent and informed application of EU law in cross-border cases, thereby strengthening legal certainty and coherence within the Slovak judiciary. To achieve this, the project will implement a wide range of activities. These include regular online and in-person meetings of the core group, active participation in European Judicial Network (EJN) meetings, and study visits to EU Member States with well-functioning judicial networks. These visits will support mutual exchange of experiences and the identification of best practices, which will then be adapted to the Slovak context. The project will also deliver a collection of anonymized judgments, a set of frequently asked questions on the application of EU instruments, and proposals for the implementation of proven methodologies. In addition, regional workshops will be organized across Slovakia to increase awareness and knowledge of EU legal tools, particularly among courts with limited exposure to cross-border matters. Regular newsletters and updates to the national case law collection will further promote information sharing within the network. The project contributes to the institutional memory of the judiciary and fosters a culture of collaboration and professional growth, aligning Slovak judicial practice more closely with EU standards.
